Solo (Queen) Elizabeth Opening Night!

Solo Salon, a longtime West Loop OG biz, celebrated the opening of their brand new location on Elizabeth Street last weekend with a party to remember! A party so great, in fact, that I sadly didn’t take many photos during it, so all of the beautiful pics in this post are courtesy of Perry Fish, a long time friend of ours and a wonderful photographer.

The Solo family and The Publishing House family have been intertwined since their opening in our building at 1134 W. Washington two years ago, and we could not imagine what it’d be like without them here! Each one of the stylists has their own flair to them, and we love getting to see their clients walk out of the salon with flawless hair every day. If you’re reading this and you’ve got a wedding planned, especially if you’re staying with us upstairs, they are absolute experts at wedding day prep, and incredibly conveniently located below us. Kristine and Michael, pictured below, are the dynamic duo who own both Solo salons, and will charm their way into your heart the first time you meet them.

Like any good party, there was a theme - 70’s/Bohemian Rhapsody/Queen - and let me tell you, the crowd DELIVERED. There was glitter, tight red leather, and oversized bedazzled jackets abound. The night was complete with a drag performance to, of course, Bohemian Rhapsody, and in the celebration of Pride Month, all the proceeds of the raffle went to Center on Halsted, a LGBTQ+ center in Chicago.

If you’re in the WL, stop in and check out the brand new location of Solo Salon! Built and designed by the same creative geniuses who made the B&B what it is, Nicole Alexander and Josh Veselsky of Siren Betty Design and Vero Design+Build, respectively, the building is a work of art in itself, and is the home to many creative artists who get to make their Elizabeth clients feel like the Queens (or Kings) they are.
